PM directs parliamentarians to play active role in approval of budget from NA
He regretted attitude of opposition parties for their deliberate attempt to disrupt NA proceedings
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday directed the parliamentarians of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to play active role in approval of budget for the Fiscal Year 2019-20.
Chairing a meeting of PTI s parliamentary party in Islamabad on Monday, he regretted the attitude of opposition parties for their deliberate attempt to disrupt the proceedings of National Assembly during the budget session.
The prime minister said that past rulers had adopted a royal and lavish lifestyle and plunged the country into the quagmire of debts.
Imran Khan said half of the country s income is being spent on paying installments of loans taken by the previous governments, adding that a debt of Rs24,000 billion was increased in just 10 years and he has formed a commission to investigate that and fix the responsibility.
“The nation had given mandate to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to break status quo and fight against corrupt elements, adding that the government’s efforts had resulted in economic stability,” the prime minister said.
Imran Khan said that his government faced the toughest situation in first ten months of power, adding that the government s efforts have brought economic stability to the country.
He mentioned that the government faced tough financial situation during its initial 10 months and expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and China for extending support to Pakistan in the hour of financial difficulties.
While pledging strict action against corrupt elements, he said those who burdened the country with heavy debts would be treated as ‘national criminals, adding the high-powered commission would investigate the hefty Rs24,000 billion debt, borrowed by the ‘national criminals’ during the last decade to match their luxurious lifestyle.
