Courts are independent in the country, Firdous added.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan said the court had granted six-week bail to Nawaz Sharif for medical treatment, but he did not visit any hospital during the period.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, she said the narrative based on lies has died down, and people have known reality about Sharif brothers, who have the only objective to go to London.

Firdous said that the Supreme Court judgment on Nawaz Sharif’s plea for extension in bail was based on facts. Courts are independent in the country, she added.

The special assistant said the government and the opposition should jointly work for providing relief to people.

Earlier today, Supreme Court rejected ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s review petition seeking an extension in his six-week bail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference on medical grounds.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and also comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi heard the case.

During the proceedings, Nawaz Sharif lawyer Khawaja Haris said as per court’s verdict, his client can’t apply for bail before surrendering himself to the authorities over which Justice Sajjad Ali said that whatever said prior to signing the order was just an observation.
