PML-N nominates Rana Tanveer as PAC chairman

Rana Tanveer and Khawaja Asif both were nominated by Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz( PML-N) parliamentary committee on Thursday approved Rana Tanveer as chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and nominated former defence minister Khawaja Asif as the parliamentary leader in National Assembly.

As per details garnered, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif, under the current circumstances decided on Rana Tanveer as PAC chairman and Khawaja Asif as parliamentary leader, after consultation with PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Rana Tanveer and Khawaja Asif both were nominated by Nawaz Sharif.

The party, as per the procedure, will now have to write a letter to the National Assembly speaker regarding the change. The speaker s office will then issue a notification about the appointment of the new PAC chairman.

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif accepted the PAC chairmanship on the insistence of the joint opposition and the parliamentary advisory group.

It is pertinent to mention here, that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Shebaz Sharif on October 5, 2018 in connection to the Ashiana Housing scam for misuse of power in awarding contracts.

Afterwards, Lahore High Court (LHC) approved Shehbaz Sharif s bail plea against two surety bonds of one million each on Feb 14, 2019.

Later on, the opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif left for London on April 10, 2019 to meet family members after LHC ordered to remove his name from ECL on March 26.

Rana Tanveer, elected from National Assembly (NA) constituency NA-120, Sheikhupura-II in 2018, has in the past served as Minister for Defence Production and Minister for Science and Technology.
