Survey: 22pc Pakistanis claim to live in rented homes
Survey results translate into an approx 6 million households living on rent
(Web Desk) - Pakistan faces a housing problem, as a big chunk of population lives in rented accommodations.
Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gillani Pakistan gives us a perspective on the housing situation faced by millions.
According to the survey, carried out on a representative sample of men and women across the urban and rural divide in the four provinces, 22% Pakistanis claim to live in a rented home. The results show an attractive market opportunity for professionals.
The survey results translate into an approximate 6 million household living on rent, out of a total of 30 million house hold.

The survey question that was put forward to the representative sample was
‘Does the house that you currently live in belong to you/a member of your family or do you live on rent?’
In response, 77% said that it is personal, meaning that they or a family member owns the house they currently live in, and 22% said that they are living on rent. 1% said that they did not know or did not wish to respond.
The survey was carried out on a sample of 1178 men and women across urban and rural areas in all four provinces of the country during 23 Feb - 23 March 2019.
