FM Qureshi calls Asad Umar prominent face of PTI

Whoever replaces Asad Umar will have to face challenges, Shah Mehmood said.

MULTAN (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday has termed ex-Finance Minister Asad Umar as prominent face of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and front man of the party.

Talking to media in Multan, Qureshi said that he doesn’t know why Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan took decision regarding Asad Umar, adding that there is no grouping in the party. Whoever replaces Asad Umar will have to face challenges, he said.

Meanwhile, the minister said that Pakistan is ready to hold talks with the new elected government in India for regional peace. Pakistan initiated the opening of Kartarpur corridor and also released the Indian pilot without imposing any condition, he continued.

To a question about terrorism, he said some elements want to destabilize the country through subversive activities but we will foil their nefarious designs. 

Earlier following the change in portfolios of ministers, PTI Member National Assembly (MNA) Asad Umar quitted as the finance minister of Pakistan.

The PTI leader said that he conducted a detailed meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan after his proposal of reshuffling of the cabinet.

“I convinced the premier to allow me to step down from the cabinet,” he said. “I thank Imran Khan for inviting me to join PTI and to put his trust in me. My support will always be PTI which will make naya (new) Pakistan.
