Fire at PM Office: Venue of Tuesday's cabinet meeting changed
The cabinet meeting will be held at PM House on Tuesday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The decision to change the venue of the cabinet meeting that was to be held at the Prime Minister Office on Tuesday has been taken after a fire broke out at the PM Secretariat’s sixth floor on Monday.
According to Dunya News, the federal cabinet would now be held at the PM House on Tuesday at 11am instead of the PM Office.
It is pertinent here to mention that a fire broke out at the Prime Minister (PM) Secretariat’s sixth floor on Monday. The PM Secretariat was immediately evacuated as emergency was declared at the building.
The initial cause of fire has been ascertained to be an electrical short circuit in the sixth floor of the building. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson to the PM, Nadeem Afzal Chan informed the media that the PM was present on fifth floor of the secretariat when the fire broke out.
Chan said that the PM was informed about the incident during a meeting, and he asked officials to determine the nature of fire.
Later, he asked all officials to leave the building immediately and he himself left when smoke erupted.
The PM s spokesperson said all other meetings of the PM were underway as planned. No casualties have been reported and all staff members are safe.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Prime Minister s Special Assistant on Media Affairs Yousaf Baig Mirza said no loss or damage had been reported in the incident.
