Zulqarnain Haider says Indian gave him life threats

Summary Ending his self-exile, the Pakistani wicketkeeper arrived in Islamabad at 8am on Monday.

Talking to Dunya News, Haider said that the man who had hurled life threats on him was an Indian. He accused Kamran Akmal’s father-in-law of being involved in match-fixing and that investigations should be held against him. He said that he continuously faced ill-treatment from Akmal during a series against South Africa in Dubai.Haider said that the Pakistani government had assured him of complete security. He said that he made all-out efforts to end corruption in cricket. He urged the International Cricket Council and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take steps to end malpractices in the game.Separately, he met with Interior Minister Rehman Malik after reaching Islamabad.Talking to the media after the meeting, Haider appreciated the British and Pakistani governments and said that he would meet PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt and would announce his decision about the retirement.Talking to the media, Interior Minister Rehman Malik refused to disclose the details of his meeting with Zulqarnain.Earlier, the UK police had taken him under protective custody after the wicketkeeper had received threats from Pakistan.
