BJP loses strength of its claim of air-striking in Pakistan's Balakot

Several politicians and even former Indian military officers have been openly rebutting such claims.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Indian ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) claim of carrying out airstrikes at alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan’s Balakot has become unmanageable for its leaders to maintain as opposition leaders have been constantly demanding evidence on the matter.

Now, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh, a retired four star Indian army general, has also acknowledged that the earlier count of 250 terrorists being killed in the airstrikes was based on mere assumptions.

He accepted that during Indian airstrikes near the Line of Control (LoC), no one was present on the ground.

Indian army former major Vashambar Dayal has also admitted that Pakistan-India simmering tensions are only a form of publicity stunt this election season.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has also warned that Pakistan would not hesitate to use its nuclear arsenal in self-defence if India attacks.

Shashi Tharoor, who currently serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs and All India Professionals Congress, has disclosed that if BJP is re-elected in the 2019 general elections, rights of minorities would be trampled.

Tharoor maintained that the BJP will legislate new laws in the constitution, making India less tolerant, inclusive and against non-Hindus.

"If they (BJP) win a repeat in the Lok Sabha our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the constitution of India and write a new one," he had said.
