Judge grills Fawad Chaudhary over defying court's orders in Indian prisoners case

The court ordered to produce the information secretary on the next hearing of the case in handcuffs.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In a case pertaining to inadvertently border crossing of Indian prisoners, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) severely lamented on the attitude of Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary and information secretary after observing that the court’s directives were not followed in the case.

During a case hearing at the apex court s registry in Lahore, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed inquired “Why advertisement was not issued despite the orders of the court?”

“Do Fawad Chaudhary and information secretary consider themselves above the law?” Justice Saeed remarked, adding that officials of information ministry might have certain misconceptions and they should be informed about consequences for not complying with the orders of the court.

“Their misconception will be removed in such a way that they will not even think of defying court’s orders,” he went on to say.

Subsequently, the court ordered to produce the information secretary on the next hearing of the case in handcuffs.
