Summary President Zardari has said the PPP will continue to strengthen democracy and state institutions.
President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) parliamentarians at the Presidency and discussed political situation of the country and the matters concerning the coalition partners. According to sources, the PPP MNAs were taken into confidence regarding the expansion of the cabinet and relations with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid. President Zardari also advised PPP to make a decision on awarding future party tickets and party offices after consulting the PPP’s provincial presidents.According to Presidential Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, the president said that PPP would continue to march towards strengthening democracy and state institutions besides putting economy back on track. Zardari said that the policy of reconciliation and dialogue would continue with its allies and all political forces in the country.He also said that the PPP tried to reconcile with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz but his opinion was different. on the occasion, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the government provided billions of rupees in funds to the PML-N but Nawaz Sharif did not want to reconcile with the government. He also said that the government had so far passed 80 bills in parliament.According to sources, the president and the prime minister supported the demands for Hazara and Saraiki provinces. On the other hand, Akhunzada Chatan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi did not participate in the meeting.
