Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh met with World Bank President Robert Zoellick and apprised him of the Pakistan’s efforts to reform various sectors of the national economy to achieve macro-economic stability and bring economic prosperity to the people.Robert Zoellick welcomed the finance minister as they exchanged views on economic matters on the sideline of the IMF-World Bank meetings.The finance minister appreciated the WB for being one of the leading development partners of Pakistan. Talking to the media after the meeting, Sheikh said that he informed the IMF, World Bank and US officials of the measures and reforms, like broadening the tax base, bringing additional sectors into tax net, revenue generation and controlling expenditure that the government was pursuing to achieve macro-economic stability in the country.
