NAB seeks chief's approval to file Ramzan Sugar Mills reference against Shahbaz, Hamza
Shehbaz Sharif and Humza are accused of misusing authority for constructing a drain and a bridge.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has decided to file Ramzan Sugar Mills reference against PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and his son and opposition leaders in Punjab Assembly Humza Shahbaz after investigation team has completed investigations in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
According to NAB spokesperson, the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Director General (DG) NAB Lahore, Shehzad Saleem in Lahore of Friday and sought an approval from the Bureau’s headquarters for filing reference against them.
Shehbaz Sharif and Humza Shahbaz are accused of misusing authority for constructing a drain and a bridge, costing Rs210 million to facilitate the sugar mill. Shahbaz, the then chief minister, allegedly issued orders for the building of the drain on an emergency basis.
The accountability watchdog Lahore chapter also gave approval to lodge a fresh reference against former bureaucrat Fawad Hasan Fawad over charges of assets beyond means.
The anti-graft watchdog has also green-signaled to launch investigations against Ali Jehangir Siddiqui over alleged embezzlement of Rs 11 billion.
