ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal on Wednesday questioned how those people who do not own any vehicle 28 years back have now become the owner of foreign assets and towers.

Addressing federal secretaries in Islamabad, he maintained that those people are now behind bars that were out of the reach of law.

He declared bureaucracy as the backbone of country.

“Propaganda was done that bureaucracy has stopped working due to NAB. The nefarious propaganda was meant to blame NAB and discourage bureaucracy,” he said.

Bureaucracy is playing an active and significant role in the progress and development of the country, pronounced the chairman.

Our crime is that we are inquiring about the foreign assets, he criticized.

“NAB had been pronounced dead. But I made it alive again. Governments will keep on changing but State of Pakistan will remain forever,” avowed NAB chairman.

He remarked that bureaucracy should think ten times before proceeding with any wrong step.

“From now onwards, I will personally review all the complaints against serving and retired bureaucrats along with secretaries and additional secretaries. If deemed necessary, a questionnaire will also be sent in this regard,” affirmed Javed Iqbal.

The eradication of corruption from the country is a collective duty of everyone, he reiterated.

“Presently there is supremacy of law and constitution in the country and bureaucracy should not accept any political pressure. We have to work in the larger interest of people and the country,” he suggested.

Javed Iqbal restated NAB is working on the policy "Accountability for All" without any discrimination and no injustice will be done with anyone.

“Alleged corruption worth million was committed after establishing companies in Punjab. NAB will investigate as per law if contract is awarded on only a single bid,” stressed NAB chairman.
