Nine people including 3 policemen martyred in Loralai terrorist attack

LORALAI (Dunya News) – At least nine people including three policemen were martyred on Tuesday when militants stormed the office of deputy inspector general of police in Loralai district of Balochistan.

According to a press release issued by medical superintendant Loralai Teaching Hospital, the dead included a head constable, a constable, a Balochistan Constabulary personnel, four ‘Class IV’ police employees, a sweeper as well as one civilian.



Details suggest that the office was initially fired on, which was followed by an explosion. The firefight occured after three gunmen entered police offices and threw hand grenades.

"Senior police officials were busy selecting candidates for different categories of civilian jobs when these terrorists entered the compound and hurled hand grenades," Balochistan police chief Mohsin Butt told AFP.

"Police officials opened fire on them killing one of the terrorists," he said, adding that the two remaining gunmen went into hiding in the building and later blew themselves up.

Three of those killed were policemen and six were civilian staff members, while twenty people were injured in the crossfire, Butt said.



The prolonged operation concluded after four hours.

A statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) maintained that all the 800 people present in the complex for recruitment were evacuated safely by the security forces while a clearance operation was held following the attack.

The injured which included 12 police personnel and nine candidates were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Quetta through a helicopter, added ISPR.

"Three suicide bombers tried to enter the DIG office. The on-duty policeman fired at one of the terrorists who later blew himself up in injured condition. The two others entered a nearby room while firing indiscriminately. They were later killed in the opertaion of security forces," explained the media wing of army.

FC Balochistan and Pakistan Army soldiers were also summoned on the occasion.


PM Khan condemns attack


Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly condemned attack on DIG Complex Loralai. He lauded the timely action of Frontier Constabulary and Pak Army personnel. He said coward act of enemies’ reflects their defeated mindset.

The Prime Minister Khan said morale of our Army, Police and nation is high and there is no space for terrorists and their facilitators in the country.

PM Khan prayed for the martyrs and speedy recovery of the injured of the attack.
