LNG Scandal: NAB summons Miftah, decides to summon ex-PM Abbasi
Failure to comply with the notice may entail penal consequences.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday summoned former finance minister Miftah Ismail and also decided to summon in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) scandal.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail has also been directed to bring all record related to LNG import on January 11 and appear before an investigation team at the Bureau’s Rawalpindi office.
It further warned that failure to comply with the notice may entail penal consequences as provided in Serial 2 of the schedule of NAO1999.
Sources said that the anti-graft watchdog has also decided to summon former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, however, summon for his appearance has not yet been received.
The Supreme Court on September 10, 2018, directed NAB to complete inquiry against former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others for alleged corruption in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) contract with Qatar and submitted the report on it.
The NAB has also summoned former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in LNG case.
In June 2018, the National Accountability Beareu (NAB) had approved inquiry against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, former petroleum minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in granting contract of LNG terminal for 15 years to their favourite company.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Bureau s executive board chaired by Justice (r) Javed Iqbal .
In the meeting, the NAB aprroved inquiry against Nawaz Sharif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others in granting contract of LNG terminal for 15 years to their favourite company.
It was also observed that this contract had caused loss of billions of rupees to the national exchquer.
