The Committee further discussed problems faced by expatriate Pakistanis in getting passports

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Monday recommended public hanging of the convicts involved in raping minors.

Senator Rehman Malik presided over a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior in which matters pertaining to child rape and pornography came under discussion.

During the meeting, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi informed the committee that incidents of rape are on the rise, adding that there is need to introduce the strict laws against such incidents.

The committee proposed to hang rapist in public and award seven year imprisonment and Rs3.5 million fine to those involved in filming pornographic videos.

On the other hand, committee members also discussed their reservation with state minister about the placing and removing of names on Exit Control List (ECL) and asserted to make better strategy in this regard.

However, the Committee also directed to launch investigation against the torture on Assistance Director Federal Investigative Agency s (FIA) family member by FIA personnel.

The Committee further discussed problems faced by expatriate Pakistanis in getting passports. The meeting also held discussion on the steps being taken for protection of street children.
