LAHORE (Dunya News) - An eight-year-old boy fell prey to the chemical kite sting in Dharampura.

Mayor Lahore, Colonel (retd) Mubashir expressed his regret and said that kite-flying should be banned to avoid such kind of bloody incidents.

Chief Secretary Punjab has ordered strict action against kite-flyers and said there is a complete ban on kite-flying and no decision has taken yet in this regard.

Earlier, Punjab Information and Culture Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan had announced the govt’s decision to lift ban on Basant festival on December 18.

He said that a committee would be constituted to deliberate over negative aspects of the festival and suggest steps to avoid them.
The move was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner questioned the government s decision to lift ban on Basant, submitting that the restriction was imposed after the festive activity turned into a fatal sport.

He submitted that it was unconstitutional to allow such an activity that results in the loss of human lives.
