LHC moved against revival of Basant festival in Punjab
On Tuesday, Fayyaz Chohan had announced that Basant will be celebrated in Lahore in February.
LAHORE (DunyaNews) – A plea on Wednesday was submitted with the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Punjab government’s permit orders to celebrate Basant.
According to details, legal notices were sent to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Punjab Law Minister with the directives to withdraw decision within fifteen days otherwise plea will be treated in the Supreme Court.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Provincial Minister for Information Fayyazul Hassan Chohan had said that the Punjab government has decided to allow celebrating Basant in Lahore in the second week of February.
He had said that the Basant is a cultural festival of Lahore through which had a business billions of rupees.
The minister had said that the cultural circles of Lahore had been asking to celebrate Basant festival. “The festival creates enormous economic activity and is a source of promoting tourism.”
