India violates Indus Waters Treaty by restricting water at Baglihar Dam
Chenab River is left with only six thousand, sixty-seven cusecs water.
SIALKOT (Dunya News) – The historical ‘Indus Waters Treaty’ has once again been violated by India as water supply has been stopped at Baglihar Dam.
The treaty was signed between Pakistan and India in 1960 however its violation by India has been ringing warning bells for Pakistan as River Chenab is rapidly drying up.
According to the reports, Chenab River is left with only six thousand, sixty-seven cusecs water while 55 percent of the river part has dried up.
The Marala - Ravi Link Canal, flowing at the Head Marala part of River Chenab, has totally shutdown which is drying up the river rapidly.
It is to reiterate here that India is bound to open 55,000 cusecs water in River Chenab according to Indus Waters Treaty.
