Citizens react to Punjab govt's safai tax proposal

(Web Desk) – Pakistani cricketer turned politician Imran Khan s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has been in power since July 25,2018 and there has already been a high number of feedback from the different sphere of societies over the policies of incumbent government.
Some parts of societies term the PTI government total failure, however, there is a possibility exit maybe they are supporters of opposition parties.
But here a question arises what are the common men s feeling, which are more important than politicians, after the imposition of several taxes on them.
The living cost has increased as the rupee has fallen against dollar. Electricity, fuel and food prices have reached sky-high. The common man’s suffering has increased to some extent as a result, the popularity of PTI may face decrease.
On December 10, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has sent a summary after making recommendations to impose safai tax on the different categories of buildings in different cities of Punjab which comprise commercial and residential properties.
To find out public perspective regarding upcoming safai tax, Dunya News reporter reached out to people in different areas of Lahore to take opinion regarding this tax as populace of these selected cities will have to pay from Rs 86 to Rs 430 per month tax.
While speaking to reporter a woman said "we are also paying out Rs 100 to street sweeper, so it does not make any difference either we pay to street sweeper or to government."
"For God sake, what does the incumbent government want to do that came into power with the slogan of change and Naya Pakistan . Is this Naya Pakistan ?" Another citizen said.
"We are poor people who are living at house of two Marla. How is it possible for us to pay such heavy taxes," an old women s remarks.
