Federation, Sindh govt agree to continue grand anti-encroachment drive

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, Federal and Sindh government on Wednesday have agreed to continue grand anti-encroachment operation without any discrimination.

Mayor Waseem Akhtar said that anti-encroachment operation will be carried out to demolish every encroachment.

According to details, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has asked to issue a forty-five days notices to owners of the shops and markets constructed on the land which comes under the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) projects.

Earlier, a 15-day notification was issued to the owners to evacuate the shops and markets.

It is pertinent here to remember that on Tuesday the top judge had rejected the plea submitted against anti-encroachment operation to demolish illegal constructions.

CJP had directed Sindh Government to manage for the appropriate alternatives for the affectees of grand anti-encroachment operation saying “Won’t surrender before the land grabbing mafia.”

CJP said the plea against operation is giving impression that Supreme Court has taken an irresponsible action. Sindh Government is responsible to provide employment and job to the affected citizens, he added.
