ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Accountability Court on Wednesday has handed over Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on 10-day physical remand.

The Accountability Court has directed to produce Khawaja brothers before the court on December 22.

Earlier today, Khawaja brothers were produced before the Accountability Court today.

It is pertinent here to mention that Khawaja brothers were arrested on Tuesday and NAB had said that former railway minister and his brother were arrested by the anti-graft body on concrete evidence.

In a statement issued, the NAB spokesperson had said that the arrest of Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique was necessary to take the investigation against the PML-N leaders, over their alleged involvement in a multi-million dollar housing scam, to a logical end.

“Rafique brothers have been arrested for "taking financial benefits" in the Lahore s Paragon Housing Society,” he had said.

The spokesperson had asserted that the arrest was necessary to recover corruption money and documents, adding that concrete evidence were collected before the arrest.

The suspects were also "beneficial owners" of the housing scheme - Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd - which was launched in 2005 on the basis of forged and fabricated documents, he had added.

The spokesperson went on to say that the business partner of Rafique brothers, Qasim Amin Butt has turned approver in the case.

"Rafique brothers, along with Butt, in connivance with one Nadeem Zia and other launched an illegal housing scheme with alleged approvals from Town Municipal Administration (TMA) Aziz Bhatti Town, Lahore," he said, adding that in 2013, all TMA approved housing schemes were transferred to Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
