Govt decides to impose 'gunah tax' on cigarettes
Different options are being reviewed regarding implementation of news tax on cigarettes.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In order to boost the health sector, the federal government has decided to impose ‘gunah tax’ on cigarettes.
According to sources, the Ministry of Health is reviewing different options regarding implementation of gunah tax. The move will increase prices of cigarretes as the authorities are mulling to impose Rs5 to Rs15 tax on each packet.
Sources further told that amount collected through this tax will be allocated to the Prime Minister Health Programme.
