Karachiites are suffering the fifth power breakdown within the last two months.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi on Monday suffered a major power breakdown that left vast areas of the city in darkness.

According to details, 80 percent of the city experienced a blackout. The areas affected include Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Bahadurabad, PECHS, Mehmoodabad, Sadar, Super Highway, Sohrab Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Guddap, Ancholi and surrounding areas.

This time round K-Electric saved their grace by issuing the same old statement. The spokesperson maintained that Bin Qasim power plant went out of order and tripped the high tension line.

Moreover, power supply from the national grid has also been disconnected. He claimed that efforts are underway to restore electricity in the metropolis.

The city’s power supplier said that electricity had already been restored in some areas of the city and added that the situation would "improve significantly" over the next few hours.

It is pertinent to mention here that Karachiites are suffering the fifth power breakdown within the last two months.

The blackouts are a grim reminder for Karachiites who suffered major and frequent power breakdowns last year during summer.
