I'd start living in the plane if given a chance: PIA's first Kashmiri female pilot
Being a pilot is my dream from a young age and I always wanted to do this.
(Web Desk) - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has shared wonderful news via twitter that it [PIA] has picked up a first female pilot, Maryam Mujtaba, from the beautiful mountainous valley Kashmir.
“Being a pilot is my dream from a young age and I always wanted to do this, said Maryam Mujtaba in an interview, once my parents knew that I wanted to become a pilot, they encouraged me and sent me to flying school.”
Maryam further added that after the completion of her CPL course she found a job opening luckily at National Airlines so she sat for the job examination and got the job where has been working for them ever since.
However, when interviewer further asked if she was allowed any personal modification in the cockpit, she replied with smiling face, “No… I don’t make any modifications; there are certain standard operating procedures which need to be followed at any cost and if a crew member is incapacitated then another one needs to remain in control for the aircraft’s landing in the cockpit.
When she went on to share her memories with interviewer she said that once she was pilot on an ATR bound for Bahawalpur, a female passenger was worried about my control of the plane but once she successfully landed the plane the passenger came up to her and took photos with her and showered her with blessings.
