Deadlock persists between govt, opposition on PAC chairmanship
Shah added that opposition will also boycott all other standing committees.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Syed Khursheed Shah on Saturday warned that opposition would not be part of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) if chairmanship is retained by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Going a step further, Shah added that opposition will also boycott all other standing committees.
Shah’s remarks has come at time when PTI-led federal govt and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led joint opposition are at odds over chairmanship.
Shah added that chairmanship should be given to opposition as per parliamentary traditions.
On the other hand, federal minister for information and broadcasting Fawad Ch has at numerous occasions stated that PAC chairman will be appointed from treasury benches.
