LAHORE (Dunya News) – All private and educational institutes in Punjab’s capital Lahore and across province will remain close today. Likewise, the blockade of roads by the enraged protesters has also forced traders to keep markets close.

On the other hand, mobile phone service is partially suspended at scattered places in Lahore amid protest rallies. The paper of FSc has also been cancelled. The new date for exam will be announced later.

Educational institutes will also remain closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per details garnered, Punjab Education Department has announced holiday in the wake of widespread protests by religious outfits. Likewise, all major trading markets of the city including Wall City, North Lahore, Circular Road and other big plazas will remain close till security situation improves significantly.

Punjab govt has all ready closed section-144 across province. Under section-144, more than four people are not allowed to gather at any place. Cases would be lodged against those carrying out rallies and protesting.

On the other hand, Punjab govt has also summoned rangers for the security of sensitive buildings and places.

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) empowers district administration to issue orders in public interest that may place a ban on an activity for a specific period of time. Such a ban is enforced by the police who register cases under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code for violations of the ban. Section 188 carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison or fine or both.
