Brick prices soar ahead of kilns closure on October 27
Closure of kilns was announced by the government to mitigate the factors behind smog.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Bricks prices have reached a new high ahead of scheduled closure of kilns from October 27 till December 31 which was announced by Environment Protection Department (EPD) to reduce the impact of smog in the winter.
The government has adopted the preventive measure to mitigate the factors behind smog.
The price of 1,000 bricks, which used to be Rs8,500 one month ago, has now reached Rs11,500. Sources said the price of bricks will rise further after October 27.
Sources further said that the government’s decision to close brick kilns for two month would adversely affect the construction work as the prices will further sour.
