Major power breakdown hits Karachi

Seventy percent areas in the city were affected due to power breakdown.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Power supply was affected in seventy percent areas of Karachi following a major breakdown in Sindh.

K-Electric authorities have claimed that power supply has resumed in various parts of Karachi whereas restoration work in other areas is underway. Supply to the city from the National Grid has also been restored.

Power in the city was affected following sudden tripping in transmission line of National Grid that created a rollover effect. K-Electric s plants landed safely in "Island Mode" which has enabled swift progress in restoration.

Affected areas include Gizri, Chowrangi, Malir, Surjani Town, Baloch Colony, North Nazimabad, Clifton, Korangi, PIB Colony, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, New Karachi Industrial Area, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Yusaf Goth, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony and Malir.

On the other hand, power outage at Dhabeji pumping station has tripped more than 20 pumps, halting water supply to parts of Karachi.
