Ishaq Dar applies for political asylum in UK
The PML-N leaders family denies reports
LONDON (Dunya News) – Former finance minister Ishaq Dar on Friday filed an application in the United Kingdom seeking political asylum.
According to Dunya News sources, Dar visited British Home Office in abidance of law to inform them about cancellation of his passport by Pakistani authorities.
After a media channel reported that Dar has applied for asylum, a trusted source confirmed, "Ishaq Dar recently visited the Home Office in order to update the authorities about his current status and to explain his situation after having been left stateless post-cancellation of his passport by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s government.”
The former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader visited the British Home Office to update the authorities about his current status and to explain his situation after having been left stateless post-cancellation of his passport by the authorities in Pakistan.
The source said: “Ishaq Dar presented his medical reports etc before the Home Office too; an employee of the home office requested Dar for a selfie with him. Dar allowed him and that picture is being used as an unverified proof that asylum has been applied for. The picture proves nothing. Home office should be contacted to verify facts."
Dar also presented his medical reports before the British Home Office, while an employee of the home office also took a selfie with him.
On the other hand, sources privy to the PML-N leader’s family denied and declared the reports of applying for political asylum as false.
Sources said that Dar visited the home office for extension of his visa.
