FIA detains Gulalai Ismail at Islamabad airport

She will be handed over to Swabi police

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Gulalai Ismail, an active member of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) was apprehended by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Islamabad Airport on Friday upon her arrival from London.

Sources said that the founder of Seeds of Peace network was arrested as her name was on the Exit Control List (ECL).

She was taken to FIA Headquarters where she was interrogated for over two hours and was later allowed to go.

However, soon after being released by the FIA, Gulalai tweeted after which the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police appealed the FIA to again take the PTM activist in custody.

Later, the FIA again detained the founder of Seeds of Peace network and handed her over to Anti-Human Smuggling Cell. She will be handed over to Swabi police.

Gulalai Ismail was one of 19 people named in a police complaint report for organising and speaking at a PTM rally in the northwest town of Swabi on 12 August. The charges against PTM activists include “unlawful assembly”, “punishment for rioting” and “punishment for wrongful restraint”.
