ATC remands Faisal Raza Abidi into police custody for two days

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has handed over Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Senator Faisal Raza Abidi to police on two-day physical remand today (Thursday).

Earlier, police had arrested Abidi from Supreme Court premises after his appearance in a contempt of court case on Wednesday.

Abidi had been held in a case registered at secretariat police station against him. The case had been registered under section 780-A involving abetment, terrorism charges on complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shaukat.

On the other hand, Islamabad High Court (IHC) also has rejected Faisal Raza Abidi’s plea to dismiss the contempt of court case registered against him over ridiculing Chief Justice of Pakistan and anti judiciary remarks in media.

The ex-senator was on bail till Oct 11 in the instant case in Supreme Court over use of derogatory language about Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar and anti judiciary remarks on TV channels.

Faisal Raza Abidi is also booked in a cyber crime case.
