PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Police resorted to baton charge as hundreds of male students of Peshawar University staged protest against increase in fee on Thursday.

The situation turned tense when heavy contingent of police clashed with the students, leaving several protestors injured. Over 15 students were also taken into custody.

Protesting students were of the view that hike in fee for M.Phil and PhD programs is unacceptable as they cannot afford more charges.

On the other hand, university administration maintains that fee has been increased after two years which should not be bothersome for the protesting students.

As a last resort, police closed university gates to control the situation and dispersed the protesting students.
