'Overseas Pakistanis can play vital role in countrys economic uplift'
FM Qureshi has that we would formulate policies to encourage investments in Pakistan.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while addressing the Pakistani community in Washington on Sunday said that overseas Pakistanis can play a vital role in the economic uplift process of the country.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is keen that we engage with Pakistani Americans because he knows and appreciates their strengths and contributions.
Foreign Minister further said that despite myriad challenges, we would do our best to come up to the expectations of the people of Pakistan as well as overseas Pakistanis.
Shah Mehmood stated that we, while living within our means, want accountability across the board. That means a fair process and not political victimization. We would encourage exports and formulate policies to encourage investments in Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who in currently in the United States, will lead Pakistani delegation at the UN General Assembly session beginning on Tuesday.
Pakistan delegation will join leaders from around the globe to discuss issues of war and peace at a time when the world continues to be afflicted by conflicts, violence and poverty.
According to Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, the Foreign Minister will also attend several high-level events and hold about two dozen bilateral meetings.
She said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will address the General Assembly on September 29 in which he will set out the new government’s priorities and its position and policy on key international and regional issue including the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir”.
