Youm-e-Ashura observed across the country
Taziya, Alam and Zuljanah processions had been taken out in all major cities
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Youm-e-Ashura was observed to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who laid down their lives in Karbala for the cause of truth.
Taziya, Alam and Zuljanah processions had been taken out in all major cities and towns across the country.
Ulema and Zakireen at Zuljinnah and Tazia processions highlighted the philosophy of the great sacrifice offered by Karbala martyrs.
They observed that Imam Aali Muqam and his companions sacrificed their lives for the sake of Islam and the world will always remember them. They pledged to follow the footprints of the great martyrs of Karbala.
Security had been put on red alert on the routs of Muharram processions to avoid any untoward incident. The procession routes were monitored by cameras installed at hidden places. Heavy contingent of police and Rangers had been deployed to ensure foolproof security. Water and milk stands for the mourners had been placed at various points on the route of the processions.
Police had been deployed in all sensitive areas and all roads leading to the imambargahs had been blocked by police and anyone wants to join the mourners is strictly checked.
In Lahore, Majalis had been planned while processions of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram were also taken out from different parts of city.
The main process of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate, which was concluded at Karbala Gaamay Shah, after passing through its traditional route inside the Lahore Walled City.
In Rawalpindi, the central procession of Ashura emerged from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah which after passing through its traditional route and culminated at the Qadeemi Imambargah.
In Karachi, main Muharram procession was taken out from Nishtar park which culminated at Imam Bargah Hussania Irania at Kharadar. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the route of main mourning procession in sadder and MA Jinnah road in Karachi and inspected security arrangements.
He met with organizers of the procession and directed officials concerned to provide all facilities.
In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinnah procession of 10th Muhrram was taken out from Imam Bargah Alamdar-e Karbala Qissa Khawani Bazaar after Juma prayer.
Mobile phone services had been suspended in provincial metropolis due to security reasons. Similarly, Alam and Zuljinnah processions were being taken out in Kohat, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Parachinar, D.I.Khan and other cities and towns of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Quetta, the main procession of Alam, Tazia and Zuljinnah was taken out from Imam-Bargah Nichari Alamdar Road which culminated at its destination after Maghrib prayers. A control room equipped with CCTV cameras had also been set up to monitor the procession.
Cellular services restored
Mobile phone services have been restored in majority of cities across the country, including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, after they were partially suspended on account of Youm-e-Ashur.
The services remained suspended from 7am till midnight, along the routes of the Ashura processions.
