Iranian foreign minister invites PM Imran to attend ACD summit

Imran thanked Zarif on Iran's support for Kashmir issue.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on Friday invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to attend the Asian Cooperation Dialogue in October.

Zarif conveyed his government’s felicitations to the prime minister and expressed the hope that the new leadership in Pakistan would work to foster ties with Iran.

Imran, on his part, thanked the Iranian foreign minister over Tehran’s support for Kashmir issue and said Pakistan shared historic, religious and cultural ties with Iran.

Earlier, Zarif met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and congratulated him on Pakistan’s successful protest against the blasphemous caricature competition in the Netherlands.

“Detailed discussions were also held on regional and global issues including the situation in Afghanistan and US decision to unilaterally withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” said a statement.
