Long Live Pakistan: Iconic national songs continue to flare the patriotism

Either it is the phase of war or peace, those patriotic songs heat up the zeal and fury.

(WebDesk) - There are songs that in actual fact are not the national anthems but have that very essence of patriotism that sum up the nation’s mood and devoted sentiments towards nationalism, devotion, unity and brotherhood. They can be said ‘unofficial national anthems’.

Music has the ability to shape and reshape the perspective, raise a passion and/or demoralize any frenzy. On special occasions like Independence Day, the catchy patriotic melodies playing at the every corner of the streets, in rushing vehicles and on screens install inside and outside of the houses, malls, roundabouts, grounds and other places, are enough to lift up the passion of patriotism and fervency to serve the homeland.

The role of patriotic songs in exciting sentiments of nationalism and passion for sacrifice

National songs play a vital role in instilling affection for a country in the hearts of children and the youth. They are the incentive and encouragement needed to express affection for motherland in every way possible. 

It was only after the Indo-Pak war of 1965; patriotic songs in Pakistan acquired such a significant role in motivating and encouraging soldiers’ morale on the borders and rallied the nation. Years later, songs became the driving force behind Pakistan’s sports campaigns in Hockey, Cricket and Squash championships.


National songs play a vital role in instilling affection for a country in the hearts of children and the youth.


A golden era of beautiful renditions of national songs began. During the 1965 war, Madam Noor Jehan, Mehdi Hassan and Masood Rana enthralled the nation. It was realized that the patriotic songs can play such an important role in aggrandizing the love and passion for the motherland.

When those songs were sung by the singers like Ustand Amanat Ali Khan, Madam Noor Jahan, Mehdi Hassan sb, Ahmad Rushdi, Nayyar Noor, Massod Rana, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and others, they gave them an eternal life to amuse generations after generations.
