Spillways of Rawal Dam have been opened after the water level touched the level of 1752 feet

(WebDesk) - Heavy downpour for two consecutive days severely affected Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Torrential rain in twin cities wreaks havoc in low laying localities. Thunderstorm with heavy rainfall up to 202mm along with gusty winds has been recorded.

Torrential rain inundated the low laying roads and streets. Rainwater overflowing from clogged drains flooded roads in some areas, affecting the movement of vehicles.

Due to continuous rainfall, a flood like situation was feared in twin cities. Spillways of Rawal Dam have been opened after the water level touched the level of 1752 feet. At least 162 millimeters of rain was recorded in the federal capital.

According to met office, more rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and some other parts of the country during next 24 hours. The weak monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the upper parts of the country and are set to strengthen.
