SC bars PKLRIC head from travelling abroad

Justice Nisar dismissed a plea by PKLRIC counsel seeking ban on media coverage of court proceedings.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Punjab government and Pakistan Kidney And Liver Institute And Research Centre (PKLRIC) to submit their replies over a forensic audit report.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar heard the suo motu case pertaining to the exorbitant salaries of PKLIRC employees.

The chief justice, while passing orders to prevent Dr Akhtar Saeed from travelling abroad, expressed anger at the institute allegedly running a sympathy campaign on social media.

He said strickt action would be taken against violators and added that those alleged of corruption, if proven guilty, won’t be pardoned. He also dismissed a plea by PKLRIC counsel seeking ban on media coverage of court proceedings.
