Miftah Ismail shows sportsman spirit, embraces defeat with poise
Miftah Ismail took to the twitter to gratitide Karachi, well wishers, voters and political rivals
(WebDesk)- Despite being the proactive towards business community, Pakistan Muslim League (N) for decades overlooked Karachi, economical hub of Pakistan. Despite Karachittes cried other main stream parties to show up in the politics of Karachi, PMLN for ages didn’t throw ears. It was not until the few months ahead of Pakistan general elections 2018 scheduled to be held on July 25, PMLN president Shahbaz Sharif himself visited Karachi and showed his interest in Karachi politics. In the PMLN history of four decades, it was the first time; the political heavy weights of PMLN actually stood up to participate in the urban politics of Karachi.
Among them the most prominent was the PMLN president and the former Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif himself has decided to contest for a seat from Karachi. But it was too late to claim a PMLN share in the politics of the disgruntled city.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Faisal Wawda has defeated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shahbaz Sharif in National Assembly constituency NA-249.
But there was another stalwart of PMLN and the former finance minister Miftah Ismail, who despite losing seats for National Assembly and provincial assembly not only performed very well in Karachi polls also won the hearts of his opponents while gracefully embracing the defeat with such a meek and generous expression on the eve of the results declaration of general elections 2018.
Miftah Ismail took to the twitter to thanks the people of Karachi, his well wishers, his voters and political rivals on the ground of Karachi.

In his series of tweets, he also show gratitude towards PTI’s winning candidate Ali Haider Zaidi contesting against him on national and provincial assemblies’ seats and said that the results so far reached to him though is not making sense to him at all but in any case he would like to congratulate the other players of the gameSaeed Ghani from PPP and others.
He expressed his immense love and gratitude for the people of Karachi, his thread further says,

PMLN fielded the stauch supporter Miftah Ismail from NA-244 where the other candidates set to contest against him includes PTI Ali Zaidi who defeated the former finance minister while bagging 69475 votes.

The other prominent contestants were Muhammad Abdul Rauf Siddiqui of MQM – Pakistan, Nasir Khan from APML, Yasha Ullah Khan Afghan from TLP, Mian Waqar Akhtar Paganwala from PPP and others.
Miftah Ismail is a Pakistani politician and political economist who has served as Pakistan’s Minister of Finance from April 2018 to May 2018. Prior to that, he served as the Federal Adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, chairman of the Pakistan Board of Investment and an economist with the International Monetary Fund.
