Summary Sub Committee of Public Accounts Committee expressed its annoyance over the loss of Rs. 50 million to investigate the fire incident of Parliament house in 1998.
Meeting of Sub Committee of Public Accounts Committee headed by its chairman Riaz Hussain Pirzada held in Islamabad. The Committee reviewed the audit objections of 1998 made by the CDA.The audit authorities briefed the committee that the fire incident in Parliament in 1998 caused a loss of Rs 50 million while only 2 years’ raise in salary of the negligent officials was ceased.The authorities disclosed that the investigations were conducted by the American and French experts’ teams.The committee annoyed at this and Chairman Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that what our departments were doing that they could not conduct the investigation of fire incident.The Committee ordered to present before it the record of PAC’s cases sent to FIA and NAB before 2004.
