SC dismisses plea seeking repatriation of Dr Afia Siddiqui

The CJP remarked that the case does not come under the jurisdiction of the top court

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday dismissed the plea seeking repatriation of Dr Afia Siddiqui from the US.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nasir took up the petition filed by Dr Fauzia Siddiqui for the repatriation of her sister from the United States.

The CJP remarked that the case does not come under the jurisdiction of the top court.

During the hearing, Justice Saqib Nisar maintained that the court cannot issue orders to the US, adding that what we would do if the US throws out our order.

The counsel of Dr Fouzia Siddiqui said that a Pakistani citizen also has basic rights to which the CJP said that the Pakistani courts cannot play any role in the US on Dr Afia Siddiqui’s issue.
