(Dunya News) Today is the longest day of the year; also known as The Summer solstice. It is considered as the longest day and shortest night in the countries including Pakistan that are located on Northern Hemisphere. Though, the actual hours in the day don t change, the amount of sunshine received is longer than that of any other day.

Traditionally, it is considered as the first day of summer. It may disillusioned as Summer but soon the days will be drawing in, the days getting darker and darker.
It occurs due to sun’s tilt towards the sun, which hits its maximum at 23° 26′ and falls between June 20 and June 22 in the northern hemisphere.
Winter solstice is on December 21 and is the shortest day of the year.
