ECP freezes development accounts of local governments
The decision was taken to stop local governments to influence the results of the general elections.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday announced to freeze development accounts of local governments all across the country.
Election Commission said that the decision to freeze development accounts of local governments is necessary to stop local governments to influence the results of the general elections.
In a statement, the Election Commission said that the development funds of local governments in four provinces and centre and cantonment boards will remain freeze till the date of final results of the general elections.
The statement further said that it is constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission to conduct free and transparent election.
