Pompeo, COAS discuss political reconciliation in Afghanistan, operation against terrorists
Pompeo and General Bajwa discussed ways to enhance Pak-US bilateral relations.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – United States of America’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday telephoned Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and emphasized on strengthening the mutual ties between both states.
In a statement issued from the office of the US spokesperson Heather Nauert, Pompeo and General Bajwa discussed ways to enhance Pak-US bilateral relations.
They also exchanged views over need for political reconciliation in Afghanistan and to do more for indiscriminate operation against terrorist groups in South Asia.
Earlier, President of the United States Donald Trump had categorically said “no more” aid to Pakistan in his tweet. He said that they foolishly gave over 33 billion dollars in aid to Pakistan over the past 15 years.
He slammed Pakistan for only providing lies and deceit in reaction.
Trump reaffirmed his allegation that Pakistan provides safe haven to the terrorists and doesn’t cooperate in the anti-terrorism operation against the banned outfits in Afghanistan. “They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” he tweeted.
In November, the US Congress had given green signal to release around 700 million dollars under the umbrella of Coalition Support Fund, a reimbursement amount for Pakistan on its continued support of US operations in Afghanistan.
