LHC takes notice of construction of houses in Miani Sahib Graveyard

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday took notice of the construction of houses in Lahore’s Miani Sahib Graveyard.

During the hearing, the court directed the secretary to provide complete report of the houses till tomorrow. “You will bear the consequences if any error is found in the report,” remarked Justice Ali Akbar.

Not an inch of land that belongs to the state will be left with the mafia, he added.

Dunya News unearthed the illegal confiscation of Miani Sahib Graveyard land. It was revealed that at least 456 places reserved for graves in the graveyard were illegally allotted and have been divided among the influential people against the law.

The land mafia has also fixed walls over 1248 kanal land. The relatives of the deceased are being charged higher amounts for the graveyards allotment.

In the aftermath of the report, a commission formed by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) reviewed the encroachments on the land of Miani Sahib Graveyard.
