IHC annuls ECP's ban on recruitment, uplift projects
CJP had taken suo motu notice on matter.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday annulled notification of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) barring issuance of uplift projects, transfers and recruitment.
A two-member divisional bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar resumed hearing of the petition filed by the federation and all four provinces against ECP’s decision.
The lawyer of the federation—during hearing—adopted the stance that ECP’s decision announced on April-11 was illegal.
It is worth here to mention that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar had on April-24 taken a suo motu notice on the matter and directed IHC to announce verdict in the case within a week. ECP—during hearing of the case—had termed issuance of uplift projects and recruitment as pre-poll rigging.
