Summary A total of Rs208 billion have been proposed for education
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday presented Rs11.44 billion tax-free budget for three months of fiscal year 2018-19.
Announcing the budget, Sindh CM said that the provincial government would not present a finance bill in the budget, adding that the next assembly will propose a nine-month budget.
During his speech, the chief minister informed that provincial budget focuses on improvement of health and education sectors while attention is also being paid towards infrastructure development of rural as well as urban areas.
Sindh Government, in its budget for next financial year, has proposed 10 percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees.
During his budget speech, Sindh Chief Minister informed that more than 95 billion rupees have been allocated for the law and order.
He said more than 306 million rupees have been allocated for Sindh Rangers.
He said that Sindh would receive Rs665.10 billion from the federal government, while sales tax on services would be Rs120 billion.
The Sindh CM also proposed a 15% increase in the salaries of government employees after which the salaries would reach Rs345 billion from Rs300 billion.
A total of Rs208 billion have been proposed for education.
A sum of Rs100 billion have been allocated for provincial home ministry out of which Rs90 billion would be allocated for Sindh police.
The revenue has been estimated at Rs 1,028 billion. An amount of Rs 344 billion has been allocated for development expenditures.
Shah said that over 24 billion rupees have been allocated for the health sector in the provincial budget.
More than 25 billion rupees have also been been allocated for construction of roads across the province while 750 million rupees have been allocated for minorities.
