NAB has served Nawaz Sharif legal notice to explain the alleged transfer of $4.9bn to India.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau has served former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif legal notice to explain the alleged transfer of $4.9bn to Indian exchequer.

According to NAB sources, it has been found out through the Remittance Migration Book of World Bank. NAB has revealed that there was a marked increase in the foreign exchange reserves of India after the transfer.



Chairman NAB has ordered inquiry into the matter.

The statement of the NAB claims that the amount was laundered to the Indian finance ministry after which Indian foreign exchange reserves witnessed an increase and Pakistan suffered as a result.

It is worth here to mention that Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and apparent political heir Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (rtd) Safdar are currentlty appearing before an accountability court in Islamabad in three corruption references filed by anti-graft watchdog on orders of Supreme Court (SC).
