Summary The Punjab government and NAB continue to argue over the record of companies

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) continue to argue over the record of 56 companies.

The Punjab government has said that it has provided the anti-corruption watchdog complete record while the latter says otherwise.

According to details, the country’s top anti-graft body is currently investigating alleged corruption worth billions of rupees and hefty salaries being paid to high officials in 56 companies. However, the investigations have hit snags due to non-provision of record by the provincial government.

On April 30, the Supreme Court had ordered the Punjab government to provide record of remaining 17 companies to the NAB within three days. However, NAB officials claimed that the government had provided record of 39 companies. They said that the government was hesitating to provide record of the remaining companies.

On the other hand, the Punjab government claims that it has furnished complete record before the NAB. “It is impossible to give record of everyone recruited in the company. The NAB is intentionally doing all of this to insult officers,” a statement issued quoted the Punjab government sources as saying.

“We have provided record along with the affidavit of CEO of all companies to NAB, but despite this the anti-corruption body is saying that it hasn’t received complete record,” they added.

Meanwhile, NAB officials claim that the government is not cooperating with them and they will soon write to the top court in this regard.
